Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I finally decided to put book one on my Amazon wishlist. DD loves to draw animals, so I was going to put all the animal D-W-N books on the list... However I can't figure out if these should be done in order. Do they get progressively harder or can a child skip around? I was going to use them for writing practice as well as drawing and DD is 6yo. Can those of you who have used this let me know about this? Thanks!

Supposedly, you are to start with the farm book and branch out from there, and of course, my 6yods didn't read those recommendations. He has gone through each and picked out the animals he has wanted to draw. We have found some to be more challlenging than others within the same book, but he hasn't had any problems jumping around from one book to another. He started them last year, in K. After a trip to the lake or some nature area, he would pick out an animal we had seen, draw it and then copy its name from the book. I didn't have him write down the whole sentence. He is very proud of his little book of animals.

I would say that they are easy to skip around in. Pick the animals that your child has interest in and go from there. My dds just pick up a book and draw the animal of their choice. There are writing selections with each picture and you can use them as the picture's caption for writing practice if you'd like.
Hope this helps...

God bless,
Christine

My kids, ages 6, 8 and 9 all skip around without any problems. They absolutely love these books!

my youngest draws whatever suits his fancy in any of the books.....often we find something that fits with a lapbook he is doing...like the platypus right now!

He is my only kid of six who uses them extensively. They make him quite happy and he ventures out frequently with the courage that he can draw anything he wants. SO CUTE!
