Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Thanks to the advice I got here, dd is enjoying playing her guitar and is busy learning the chords, etc..   What I'm looking for, and have had a hard time finding online, is a Catholic hymn book with the guitar chords given.   I've been able to find some small books only, but I'm looking for something more "complete".   Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hmmm. You might want to contact Oregon Catholic Press and see if they sell a guitar version of their red Worship hymnal. (I don't know if they do, and our music director is busy welcoming his new baby into the world, so I can't ask him.)

Be warned, though, most traditional hymns have a lot of chord changes and don't sound great on guitar. Also, the key signatures are for organ/piano, so they are often not guitar-friendly. You can transpose them, though, which does help somewhat.

Thank you Nancy.   I'll check on the Worship hymnal.

Dd doesn't have the music theory to be able to transpose, so thanks for the heads up!

Transposing isn't that hard - you do have to account for sharps and flats, but otherwise you count "up" or "down" a certain number of keys...e.g. to go from F to D, you count each chord down two letters (F to D, G to E, A to F sharp -- the key of D has an F sharp, not an F --) and so on. Minors work the same. Once you try it a few times it's easy to hear what works properly.

Thank you!   We did get the eMedia guitar lessons, so hopefully this will be covered in the later lessons.   But she still prefers to just keep plugging away at the chords on her own.   I've got to say that she is making progress though.
