I've noticed during the Olympics, (noticed this each time they're on) that it appears many people don't know the words to the national anthem. Maybe they are too overwhelmed with emotion to sing. However, it made me determined to find a good cd with patriotic music like Star Spangled Banner, AMerica the Beautiful, etc. Any suggestions? I looked on amazon, but didn't do a very good search. ANy thoughts/

You might try Wee Sing America. This page has a detailed listing of all the songs. If you want it, I'd do another search on Amazon for "Wee Sing America" just to see the pricing and versions (different packagings) and maybe ebay.
Okay, that was my first thought, but now I've found MORE!
Patriotic Songs and Marches
This one's proceeds go the Red Cross Liberty Disaster Fund and has VERY nice reviews:God Bless the U.S.A.
This one has a Dr Toy Award:Celebrate America
Another: America's Favorite Patriotic Songs has positive reviews (but only 2 of them)
I haven't listened yet, but this VERY inexpensive one has all the tracks online to listen to Gospel Kids Present .. Patriotic Songs
And finally--
Here's a fun link that your tax dollars have funded: Guess the Patriotic Tune
Let us know what you think/find! (I don't have time to listen to them right now.)

We have the Wee Sing tape, and it includes a good assortment of songs. The children's voices on the recording are not great, but they are easy to understand.

And we have this one - I like it.
Peter Spier's Star Spangled Banner is a great living book to use along with a look at the song. It's the text of the song with pictures. Spier's books all have wonderful illustrations. It also includes a reproduction of the original manuscript and chords for piano and guitar, I believe.

Mary, I put that song in my cart on Amazon when I was looking the first time. I love Peter Spier's books!

We can really vouch for the Wee Sing America cd. We've been listening to this tape for a decade at least, and like the Eveready Bunny, it just keeps on going... The little song book that comes with it is handy, too.
