Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am loving the ideas of a composer and artist for each month. This has helped me to finally be motivated.

I was wondering if anyone had thought of doing something similar with Shakespeare? Complete with a 'how to do it'

This obviously is an area that has never even begun here. I seriously need help.

You could start with "Twelfth Night", as it takes place January 6th!

Check out the Shakespeare thread, there's a lot of input there on Shakespeare to guide you on your way.

PS There's a great little claymation movie on Twelfth Night, probably available thru your library. I can't remember the producer off-hand, but I know it's listed on that Shakespeare thread, somewhere. My children really liked the movie!

I have no knowledge on this topic - yet.    I did come across this list of Shakespeare books/movies that may or may not be helpful to you.

Enjoy the journey,

Mare

Alright....I know nothing more about Shakespeare than you Erin (probably less) but we're reading Macbeth (probably most of Feb. too) with another family and here is what we're doing:

Cut and assemble Globe Theatre

The Animated Shakespeare video

Reading aloud Lamb's version of the play and then reading the play.

Finally, we'll watch the movie and attend the CU Shakespeare festival's student day in May. It's not exactly a month long activity but I don't know if I could get a Shakespeare play done each month.

Erin,
Did you check out the Living Literature archive? There's a load of info---including Macbeth's links to Shakespeare plays available in audio form---to augment all these good suggestions for studying Shakespeare.

Gwen, if you're ever "up the road" in Utah, there's a fabulous Shakespeare Festival every summer in Cedar City---complete with a neat outdoor Globe-ish theatre and a pre-play "Greene Showe" with jugglers and troubadors and so on. We enjoyed it so much that we're making the trek back again this summer, even though it's a *little* out of the way

Oh Cool! I'm off to check it out on the map. We love camping in Utah.
