I've discovered quite a nice beginning art series for "the young at art".

The starting art series 1 2 3 I Can from Kids Can Press.

I picked up the 1 2 3 I Can Paint! book and found it simple,straight-forward, inspiring and educational.

It starts by listing supplies (tempera or acrylic paint), goes through six simple projects which are both doable for young children and teach basic art concepts, ending with a big project putting everything together plus ideas for the parent/teacher on going further.

As someone who is "young at art" I'm looking forward to trying these projects.

The series also includes
1 2 3 I can build! (making structures out of household materials)

1 2 3 I can Collage!

1 2 3 I can Draw!

1 2 3 I can make Prints!

1 2 3 I can Sculpt! (using everyday materials to make 3-D animals)
