Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

More questions, this time about drawing pens. My dd10 is a budding artist, and prefers drawing over any other medium. I'd like to get some artist quality drawing pens for her, and I'm looking for recommendations. We tried the Prisma markers, but she didn't care for them (!). I think they were too fat--she likes the feel of regular pen/pencil size, and a fine line. Hope you artist types can give this art-challenged mom som ideas!

I am no artist-type, but I've tried several kinds of pens.
For very fine lines I like the Pilot "Precise" pens, the Prismacolor Premier archival pens, and good old Ultra-fine Sharpies. I definitely do NOT like the Sakura Pigma Micron pens. I find their points to be too fragile, breaking easily, especially the very thin sizes.
Hope that helps!

I agree with Theresa about Pilot, but I did have success with Sakura Micron and bought them for their very thin sizes. It's really nice for thin lines.

If your dd is 10, she should be able to be gentle with them.

I personally like the Pigma Microns - but not for younger kids. There are Pigma Graphics which have a sturdier tip. The 1mm bullet nib is a good basic drawing pen. Those are recommended in the Artistic Pursuits book we have.

When you said your daughter didn't care for the Prisma markers and you thought it was the size - did you mean specifically the barrel size? I don't like big barrels either and I know Prisma ones are. I think for art pens it is good to have a variety of tip widths though - some fine and some thicker. There are fine lines that aren't super fine. Even the Pigma Microns have different widths. The 08 (which is a .5 mm) width is still a fine line, but considerably studier than the thinnest one - 005 (.20 mm).

I also like
Tombow Dual Brush-Pens
and
Zig Memory System Markers

for having that sturdier, yet fine tip.

I have had these Copic markers and pens on my wish list for a while. They're expensive, but I'm thinking with refills, interchangeable nibs, etc. might be worth it in the long run. Maybe next year I can afford some.
