Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We're ready to start violin and need a 1/10 size. The local music store wants $350 for one! I've found them on-line for as little as $55 + s&H. Suggestions, anyone? I don't want something that isn't going to hold up for several children, but I know nothing about violin.

Our violin teacher told us in the small sizes the best bet is to go to eBay and spend no more than $100. She felt that violins in the $80-$100 range were sufficient for that size and for little kids.

We received much the same information from our teacher. We were buying a full size violin, but she felt that beginning violinist should start with a quality, but not expensive violin.

We did have a bit of trouble with the first one we received (something about the peg), but were able to exchange it fairly quickly. Just be sure you choose someone with a good reputation.

I also know that our local music store has violins (made in China ) for about $100.00. The strings teacher for the high school checked them out and said they were made well and could be used for beginners.
