Mary M recommended this book to us for our Human Body unit study (Thanks, Mary!). Part of it talks about the Hippocratic Oath and Hippocrates. I had a huge "oh, wow" moment. Did any of you know this was in the Hippocratic Oath:   "I will give no deadly medicine to any one if asked, nor suggest any such counsel; and in like manner, I will not give to a woman a pessary to produce abortion."

I did not know that was part of the Hippocratic Oath. I see it displayed in Dr. offices all the time. What a strong pro-life statement that is! Was I the only one in the dark about this?

I've always loved that and something in me is infuriated every time I hear it again! I mean, duh! Every human being in the medical profession should know this!!!

What I heard is that the doctors no longer take the original oath but some modified version - but this is all from my long ago memory so maybe someone can clarify or repute this. I know there are people on the board with MDs
