Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I just put up a post about my homeschool group's annual Heritage Day. I thought I'd mention it here in case it might be an idea someone could use.

It is a really fun activity for a group of any size - we usually have around 10 families and many folks just come to visit. Each famly sets up their presentation (could be a large poster board, lapbooks, dramatic play or just photo albums and family heirlooms). We give the kids passports (pictures and all!) and they collect flag stickers at every station. I run a bake sale table filled with goodies people bring that reflect their heritage (the money goes to a local oil heat fund).

It is a really fun time! This year we "traveled" to Israel, Ghana, Egypt, Poland, Italy and Native America ... the kids learn a lot and are very proud to share their cultural background with others!

That does sound like fun! And I want to be in your group, too!

Neato, Dawn! Looks like a ton of fun. Our local Girl Scouts hold an International Fair every year similar to this.

We did something similar in our group a year or two back (except it wasn't a particular family's heritage -- unless they chose that -- it was simply whatever country they wanted to choose). It was SO much fun, I too recommend something similar! I like your Heritage Day even better Dawn, although we don't have a category for "mutt"
