OK, they always were, but I figured that might get someone's attention. Anyway, I just saw on the Catholic Relief Services website that they're adding a youth global gateway to help teach all kids about different parts of the world. This would be great for a geography study.

Here's the summary of the new site:

CRS Education: Going Global with Youth is a gateway to lesson plans, simulation activities, prayer services, stories, web links and opportunities that looks at global issues through the lens of Catholic Social Teaching. Use this resource to invite young people to see the world with new eyes and to challenge them to respond to our faith call to global solidarity. News features are listed below.

And in preparation for Lent and Operation Rice Bowl, you can see the countries that will be featured in the 2007 ORB materials. If you click on download resources you will find extensive teacher materials, which of course are designed for classroom groups but you can glean ideas and activities for home use.
