Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

So this year we are doing Mediaeval history... slowly plodding through This Island Story and Fifty Famous Stories Retold.

Are there other resources out there that anyone recommends for a 7 y.o. 2nd grade boy?

And secondly... how do you 'present' the history learned? Do you all narrate the story and make a notebook page?

DS has taken a dislike to illustrating the story (narrating is not really a problem unless he isn't listening... he doesn't stop talking ) and I am wondering what else we can do?

Rachel - if your son is strong reader, have a look around a bookstore or online bookseller for some wonderful books and tapes on the subject. It was a very vibrant time for the Church - so much happening, both good and bad.

If he's tired of illustrating, have him make a 'radio show' or newspaper as a means of narration. He might enjoy making a project and then explaining what it has to do with his reading. Then lead him gently on that way.

HTH!

Blessings,

Nissa

Thanks Nissa... these are a good idea . He likes comics too, so I might suggest one of those. (I just got him hooked on Asterix )
