Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I can't remember if I actually posted this idea before or not, but it's one I have been meaning to post here for awhile if I didn't already. (My brain power is decreasing the more overwhelmed I become ).

ANYWAY..............I saw this idea from a homeschooling friend who showed me what they did in 4th grade (when she was going to school) and studying NY State history. I thought it was SO COOL, and just may use it for me.

The teacher in her class got a pizzeria to donate some pizza boxes. I was thinking we live right across from a pizza place, (though we order from down the street     ). But anyway..........

Each child got an *unused* pizza box. And on the inside cover, they did a salt map of NY State. They did a SALT MAP on the inside of the pizza box cover (that is still attached to the box).

Then on the inside of the box, they kept ALL of their maps that they traced onto wax paper (or you could use any paper). They drew maps through the year of different things like:

Major cities of NY State
Rivers of NY State
mountains of NY State
Indian Tribes of NY State
crops/natural resources of NY State
Counties in NY State

It was a *map box* of NY State, all kept together, and it was SO cool!

This could be used for any state, country, or the world, or any time period, etc.

It was just a neat, hands on way to do geography that I wanted to share with all of you. :o)

What a fun idea, Tracy! My kids love hands on projects like this, and I can see adapting in a million different ways.

Thanks for the tip!
