We will be travelling to Quebec next month for 4 days. Anyone have any tips or suggestions, favorite place to visit, what can't be missed? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Thanks!

You mean the city of Quebec, right?
My mother's family is from Quebec and we used to go up every summer. My grandmother grew up on an Indian Reservation outside Quebec. They might have a powwow in August, I'll try to find out.
A couple of things that come straight to mind are
the Shrine to St. Anne called St. Anne de Beaupre
the zoo,
and the Montmorency Falls,
Also the last time we went, we went to Aux Ancienne Candian restaurant. They serve traditional French-Canadian food. You HAVE to try the Maple Syrup pie!
(*edited because I pushed "post" too soon *)

I just looked up the dates for the annual Fireworks Competition (International). This year it is from July 22 - Aug 9. Beautiful! Someday I hope to make it up there for it.

Thanks, Jen. My ds would be thrilled to see the falls--he was disappointed to realize we weren't going anywhere near Niagra.

Be sure you read "Shadows on the Rock" by Willa Cather before you go. It is a lovely book about the French colonial period in Quebec, and really brings to life a lot of the names you'll run into there, like Frontenac and so on. It's a totally clean book, and very Catholic, but it's more for your enjoyment than the childrens, I think. They would like "Madeleine Takes Command", though---my kids loved this. Published by Bethlehem Books, and there's a cd version available, too. Great living history book for children (and adults!).
If you stay in the old part of the city, you can hoof it-easy walking. Cobblestones, though, so wear comfortable shoes!
Have fun!

Ugh! Adoremus Books had two used copies of this book on their table at the conference which I talked myself out of buying one. Now I'm regretting it.
Here's
their site if you'd like to get a copy.
Sounds like a wonderful trip, you lucky girl.

Thanks, Kelly. I've got Cather's book on hold at the library. Can't find Madeleine Takes Command, so I might have to go ahead and order it. It's time for bed---I just spent 10 minutes looking through Bemelman's Madeline books for this title before I realized it was totally separate.
Good night...
