Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I was thinking of spending the summer and early fall studying the seven continents with Kim and Luke.
Are there any resource that are your favorite? I would probably like an overview of all 7 continents (like maybe a DK book) and then break them each down...and of course, include living books and picture books from each continent.
There may already be something like this on the boards, but I searched and couldn't really find anything.
Thanks,
Joann

I've found Catholic Heritage Curriculum's Explore the Continents to provide a good framework.

The basic outline is as follows

Step one - draw a map and add main geological features (a good atlas is helpful here - I use an Oxford atlas but I'm sure there are other good ones)

Step Two -study Native Animals (unfortunately the books I use appear to no longer be in print but it shouldn't be hard to find other books)
Add pictures to map

Step Three- Study attractions and landmarks (we do this by exploring Goggle Earth)
Add to map.

Step four -study Saints from that continent (this site could be useful in determining appropriate Saints -just enter the name of the continent in the search box to get lists of Saints who were born, died or are patrons on that continent)
Add pictures to map

Step five -Enrichment (picture books, stories, crafts etc. ) With my crafty kid I used Around the World Arts & Activities by Williamson. With my last child I used a bunch of Dover myth/fairy/folk tale books.   I have an eccentric collection of other books which are mostly out of print (basically *any* book solidly set somewhere on this earth can be slotted into this study) which may be read.

BTW the Catholic Heritage Curriculum course does provide a bit more guidance and activities as well as pictures to put on the map.

I've used the CHC guide and it does fine. I wish it had book suggestions (it's been updated since I last used it so perhaps this has changed). I struggled with finding books! I did fine this one and it has a good overview (I don't remember it being a living book though).

I think Mater Amabilis has living book suggestion in their geography recommendations for each level. This might be a good place to find books too.

The CHC now has book suggestions on the last few pages of the guide.
