Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone have any experience using "Our United States of America" the 4th grade social studies - history program from Catholic Heritage Curricula?

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

I am considering this for a visual learner who has some comprehension issues.

Thanks!

Beth

I have it and we are reading through part of it this year. It's good, but it's not great. The text just isn't living enough for me, but it's not a completely dry textbook. It does pile the facts in with little conversation. I love the Catholic heritage though and that is why we use it. I don't follow the CHC lesson plans or use the workbook. We use it for learning about the states along side our history. We keep the readings short and they read it 3-4x per week. My oldest reads it out loud to my youngest. We do it this way because this is how my oldest comprehends it the best. My youngest started reading it independently, but he wasn't able to handle it. There are lots of pictures though.
