Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone use the guidesalong with books recommended by RC History? I'm trying to get an idea of what they contain and whether or not they would be worth purchasing.

A quote from one of the guides.

"The purpose of this guide is to provide historical information in such a way that it is useful to both teacher and student, by both a framework and a method ..."

The guides provide
-a guide to the author's method of teaching history including planning forms (very useful)
-the period of history divided into units, each unit containing discussion prompts, an overview written by the author, suggested reading assignments (including background reading for the parent/teacher),   a variety of possible hands-on and notebook assignments, and occasionally excerpts from older books no longer under copyright.

Thank you ekbell. I did go back and read further. I see that they describe it as a syllabus. I'm trying to decide if I want to do history with my 6th grader next year without using a spine. I was thinking maybe this guide would be helpful in keeping us on the right track, without having a text to guide us. From my reading, it seems like it would work.
