Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

For those who might be looking for ideas for high school level Civics, here is a free curriculum for a literary approach to civics from the National Endowment for the Humanities:

The Meaning of America

*There is a suggested booklist. Discussion questions are provided online.

*The literary approach is appealing, from a CM standpoint.

*Coming at civics from a modern, American vantage point rather than the ancient world view of Plutarch Studies is likewise an interesting twist.

*I have not used it or looked through it in depth, so this is not a personal endorsement; but I did read through one lesson and it was interesting.

*At the very least, I could see it sparking interesting discussions about what collegiate, mainstream America considers civic personhood and how that (a) has changed over time; (b) meshes or conflicts with your family's worldview; and (c) how these ideas are being communicated in today's culture.
