Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

grade... I'm not sure what all I need to order. I will be getting the starter kit for Volume One. But I seem to remember reading in some thread (which I can't find now) that the Blackline maps would be overkill at this point?? What about the timeline cards? Or this CD??

I know I read in one thread the suggestion that CWH would be better if started in 3rd or 4th? But she will be an older 2nd grader anyway, and also she has been saying she'd like to study about ancient Egypt. I was never good in history so I am excited about learning along with her!

Any thoughts and advice would be appreciated. DH gave the go ahead this week to home-school this fall and we are thrilled!!

I am right there with you! I just ordered volume 2 (we used Story of the World this year) and the beginner and grammar level booklists! Talk about a shock to the bank account!

In the end I did not order the time line cards or the blackline maps. I do have Uncle Josh's maps and the CD-ROM from when I used CHC exclusively, and I am sure you can find many maps online.

I did end up ordering (because my son was very interested and requested that I order) this timeline CDROM and historical figures CDROM to start a Book of Centuries. I hope it goes over well, but if not we'll shelve it until another year like I had originally planned.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that you are not alone! I will be watching this thread!

Hi Krista! I've been lurking your thread as well! I looked at the CDROMs you linked to when I read your thread. They are lovely! If I can get away with it I might not order anything besides the starter pack and books. I'm thinking about waiting to start a timeline until she's in fourth grade... maybe I'm pretty sure we will have our hands full as it is!

Waiting until fourth grade for a timeline was my plan, too.... we'll see how it goes. My son was so into the idea when he saw me browsing the website. I guess it's not money wasted if I was planning to purchase it anyway, right? I hope so!

I am really looking forward to the Connecting with History syllabus, though. And all those books... I am positively drooling!
