Does anyone have any opinions/experience with this program? Thanks! I am thinking of using with my 7 year old next year along with a basic latin intro.

We have used it. I think it would be great for a 7 year old. Be ready for all the catchy songs...kids love them, but they do tend to stick with you ALL day!

Cathy Duffy reviews the program pretty thoroughly at her website.
I have been thinking of adding this program to our Spanish mix, but the review points out some differences in pronunciation to be aware of:
Three CDs are packaged with the book. On the CDs, in addition to the songs, Miriam and her children walk us through each lesson step-by-step so we hear all the pronunciations. This makes the program practical for those of us who know no Spanish at all. (Note that the author pronounces the written letter "ll" with the "j" sound although the "y" pronunciation is more common in many locales.)
This would be a huge deal for my kids, as we have learned the "y" pronunciation, and that does seem to be the most common way to say it.
We started with La Clase Divertida, then added on Getting Started with Spanish (very short, easy lessons to reinforce La Clase Divertida) and the Say Hola to Spanish book series (very cute and colorful).
All three of these use the "y" pronunciations for the double L ("ll") sound.
I think it would be very confusing for us now to add on a resource with a different pronunciation. I am not sure which pronunciation Rosetta Stone and other big companies use, but you might want to check into that before learning the "j" sound.

Here is another discussion from way back when...
I didn't realize you have to buy workbooks, etc separately. Another thing to consider.

Thanks, reading that discussion is helpful. I'll have to think about the pronunciation of "ll" . My son took a "fun spanish" co-op class, but I think to retain much we would do much better with a program at home. The cost of the entire program, at $95, is a bit high to jump at right now, but I know that's much less than Rosetta Stone..
Trying to get everything settled for next year before my depleted energy runs out! Thanks for the links.

Amanda-
One thing I am thinking of doing is trying to get the basic set (book and cds) through inter-library loan. Then I can listen to the cds and see if the "ll" pronunciation would really be a big issue for us.
Also, then I can decide if just buying the basic set without all the extras would be fine. My dc are still young, so I don't really need workbooks at this point. Just reading the book and listening to the cds would be enough for them....

I like that idea, Melinda. I'm just about to register for ILL after starting to use our library again. I don't really ever consider that type of book would be available. Hopefully!

Rats- my library can't get it through ILL.... but my library is very hit and miss with ILL. Maybe you will have better luck with yours. I know some library systems can just about get the kitchen sink for you .
Say Hola to Spanish
is a great picture book set in rhyme with a pronunciation guide at the back.
I found it at my library, plus two others in the series. My kids love these books. We use them in a Five in a Row type way- reading them over and over until we practically have the rhymes and vocabulary memorized.
We liked them so well that I acquired the set of three to keep at home through paperbackswap and bookmooch.

My daughters had Spanish in the catholic school and they were taught the "j' sound for the "ll" spelling. I think it is related to the country that the teacher is from. I have Spanish with Grace and plan on trying it next year. We just didn't have time to do it this year.

I wound up buying a copy of Learn Spanish with Grace through Cathswap.
It is much more in depth than I thought, but we are really liking it a lot.
It is well laid out and very easy to use. My kids like the songs especially.
The j sound for ll is a bit tricky, since we learned the y sound, but we are coping with that fairly well. Just took a bit of getting used to. I only have the one manual and the three cds- not any of the extra books/flashcards, etc-
but I might look into getting those down the road.
It's been a nice addition to our Spanish mix

Thanks for the update! I decided to do some Latin in the Fall with I speak Latin ( I think) and then add in Spanish in the spring. A friend looked at my plans and said - two languages at once? and I realized maybe I should start with one and add the other. I also bought Making Music Praying Twice, so I may need to look for Spanish with Grace used.
