I would love to hear how others have used this textbook as a spine. It seems to cover the basics for a wide range of 'travel' and geography topics.

So far I have to say other than the terrible spelling errors (which I find very surprising for a textbook) I really do like the story format this text uses. Reminds me a bit of From Sea to Shining Sea.

It's true about the spelling errors, I think it happened when some of the facts in the book were updated. As far as the contents go, it is very usuable when studying geography one continent or region at a time. We did South America last year and read about the way people live in "My World of Neighbors." We also used Van Loon's Geography and World Geogpraphy.

I'm using it for grades 5 through 8.
