We just happened upon this book by Don Brown that tells the story of the day the American Revolution began. My children, especially the history boy, have really enjoyed it. It's a longish picture book with engaging, almost cartoonish illustrations (a few of which are pretty intense in all honesty). I searched here on the boards and couldn't find mention of the book, so just wanted to pass along a good find!
