Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Last year we began our first of a two year American History program and we really enjoyed it. In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we spent way too much time on it and didn't come close to finishing what I had planned to finish in one year. We incorporated the history and geography of states, as well as saints who were from America.

This year I am considering continuing with American History (though spending less time per week) and studying World History as another class. That way we could just keep going, although more slowly, with American History but not neglect World History.

Does anyone do this? It seems like it could be confusing and although I know I have seen homeschool programs that study both in a year, I never hear of anyone doing this. If you do, please share how this works for you.

God Bless,
Barb

We have done something like this. Last year my dd studied American History to 1900 (we are finishing 1900-present this year). She also did ancient Greece at our co-op all year.

I don't know the ages of your children, but my dd was in 7th grade last year and had no trouble keeping the two classes straight.

Charlotte Mason had her students studying both national history and world history simultaneously.
