I'm pretty slow, because until recently I had no idea about the founder of Domino's Pizza: Tom Monaghan.
For me, this is an incredibly inspiring story. I think it would be an interesting type of unit study for teens who love pizza...
(Note: not trying to start any type of political discussion here... I just enjoyed reading about a man who had *everything* and then gave most of it up to focus on getting souls into heaven).

He is a friend of my parents. Whatever mistakes he has made, and we think he has made plenty, he is a good man with a noble goal and has overcome incredible odds. Yes, his story is good study.

Have you read his biography? It's really quite fascinating.
I've not read it, but a friend of mine did and she shared excerpts from it. It is interesting to hear the things that form a person into who he is, and still make decisions/judgments as he has. We are all human - no matter what we've been through.
He has very noble ideas. I genuinely pray that the fruit will be plentiful. Those words have been a long time in coming - thank you for mentioning him here.

I have his biography on reserve at the library to pick up. It was published in 1986, though, and there doesn't seem to be anything more recent in book form.
I can imagine there have been many mistakes along the way and things he would have done differently looking back. I think we can all say that

We read the book in MBA for Ops Mgmt and then went and did a tour of a Dominos -- they have the "assembly line" down pat!
My almost 19yod goes to Ave ... so everytime you buy Dominos ... you help a little bit ... altho, the funny thing is that Ave Maria doesn't have ANY Dominos on campus!

He sold it years and years ago, then came back to help manage it briefly during a slump in the 90's.
After reading the chapter on pride in Mere Christianity (CS Lewis), he gave away or sold a lot of his possessions, including the Detroit Tigers. He started using the money for his many charitable causes.

And look at me, threatening to take that from you
of course, I don't need much of an excuse myself to buy pizza
