Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

A hs lecturer I really respect speaks highly of this man's books on Modern History. In fact, he is the only author she recommends. She is protestant. Does anyone know anything about him? I had never heard of him before. I'm just wondering if they are acceptable from a Catholic perspective?

Hi!

I may not be a respectable hs lecturer .....but I HIGHLY recommend Marrin's books, too!

We LOVE them in this house and have found them to be a very thorough and detailed study of the specific time we are reading about.......and most enjoyable!

There are some realistic pictures drawn with his words...like in battles or otherwise......but from 11 yrs up.........we have enjoyed his books. we use them as read-alouds and for private reading.

I have only read about four....but my older daughter has read about ten more........

we have only found one remark that we can remember between the two of us that was not friendly to the Catholic Church......in the French and Indian War book....and we just discussed it when it came up.

I am NOT an expert in history......but his research feels pretty accurate..........of course every author will have some bias, but if there is an agenda.......I cannot tell it...... Marrin can tell a great story using the facts of history.

We are planning to do the 1900's next school year.....his books will be a huge part of that study in our house.

and there you have it.........my humble opinion
