Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My daughter has decided to do her project for this year's local Catholic History Fair on this topic.

We of course have the Scarlet and the Black and information on Fr. O'Flaherty.

We just requested Ronald Rychlak's book on Pope Pius XII.

She found web information on these sisters:
Mother Mary Richard Beauchamp Hambrough (Servant of God)
Bl. Sara Salkahazi

We are looking for other suggestions for resources on this topic and any particular names of individuals or religious communities who aided in this effort in WWII.

David Dalin's book The Myth of Hitler's Pope is excellent.

Renee Roth-Hano and her sisters were hidden by French nuns in Normandy - she tells her story in Touch Wood. (You might want to pre-read - there are a few references to having crushes on boys and similar topics.)

In the movie, John XXIII, there is a great part that shows the how he saved a train full of Jews that was heading to the concentration camps. This movie is wonderful!

Here is a site that lists various people who helped.

Here is another that is more specific to Pope John XXIII.
