Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Is anyone using the Map Skills B book from CHC?

My ds loves maps, and I am directionally challenged. We have and have read several fun map books from the library, but now I am looking for a book that has concrete activities that I do not have to come up with myself.

Looking for opinions...
Do kids like this book?
Would I need the teachers guide?
Could two kids share the one one activity book or would I need two? Ds would be the primary user, but dd also likes maps and is not one to be left behind....

I think this is the one we have.. but wouldn't you know it.. I can't find it It's a work book.. I certainly didn't get any teacher's guide. I did put the pages into page protectors and the whole thing into a binder.. that way the kids can use washable crayons or china pencils or such on them.. erase and let another child do them. It's fairly self explainatory and my kids did like it. But they like doing fun work pages at times. Then again.. they're also the ones that were begging for math problems written out for them to do.

I could have typed Jodie's post

Ours is in a binder with sheet protectors too, but primarily so my one son can do it over and over and over. He really LOVES workbooks, so he's not a good comparison for most children's tastes in this regard.

There is no teacher's guide as the pages are self-explanatory, but the answer key is great to have, just in case I think some of the levels include the answer key and some it is separate. ****I stand corrected!!! I just checked CHC's website - Ours might be an older edition???? Our answer key came with just the answers, no supplemental activities. And the ones at CHC are a bit pricier than I what I paid. So take my review with that grain of salt

We've used the whole series. I've never bought a teacher's guide.

I think map skills are very important (what do you do when your GPS dies halfway through your vacation?!). This series is easy to use. Both of my children enjoyed it - it's a learning activity, but it didn't seem very "schooly" to them.

We like them very much. My husband does this with dc, and they BEG him! It's very fun, and Nancy's right...it doesn't seem "schooly" at all.    We don't have the teacher's guide. I don't think it's at ALL nec.

Thanks for all the input. I am definitely going to go with these. It sounds like my dc will really enjoy them.
