Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

i have been meaning to post this for some time. i received a free something from Maryknoll several months ago and i noticed they had a childrens curriculum free for churches and schools. i called and asked if they would send it to homeschoolers as well and i have been receiving every month a magazine and poster. unfortunately, the reading level is a little above my kids age and i havent taken time to read the articles aloud to them, but for older elementary and even up through high school, this would be a great free resource. and it dovetails perfectly with a childs geography curriculum.
the website is www.maryknollmagazine.org

oh! thanks for mentioning all that, donna. like i said, i havent been receiving them for long and i havent had my kids read them. maybe i need to go through and screen them first! i thought they would be mission stories, but it sounds like there is more to it than that.

Donna, you are right, you do need to exercise caution in sifting through the Maryknoll works. Historically the order has gone through a lot of turmoil, and have accepted things like liberation theology. There is more emphasis on the natural side, like conservation, but not always aligned or explained through the eyes of Mother Church's teachings. I don't want to bad mouth, but just exercise caution anything to do with today's Maryknoll.

With older kids, this makes a GREAT opportunity for discussin about Mother Church's take on these aspects ...
