Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm on a Yahoo loop for users of Cambridge Latin, and one of the members sent the following. He told me I was free to pass this onto hs groups. I thought some of you in the VA area may be interested!

LATIN for 2010: FRESH IDEAS for FRESH KIDS! Presenting an innovative workshop that explores fresh ideas in Latin teaching: in particular, engaging, rigorous, and standards-connected activities for lower and intermediate level Latin! Topics discussed will include grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, translation, and Roman culture. Participants will learn about and experience myriad learning games, kinesthetic activities, listening and speaking activities, and multimedia and technology-based activities that can enhance the student learning experience. In addition, the presentation style will be enthusiastic and fast-paced, replete with multimedia, hands-on interaction, and group discussion!

The workshop takes place Friday, February 12, 2010 from 8:30 am - 3:30 am at the Quarterpath Recreation Center in Williamsburg, Virginia. The workshop is free for teachers in the Williamsburg-James City County Schools, or $40 (covering materials and lunch) for all others.

To register, please contact Valerie DiPaola, Coordinator of World Languages (dipaolav@wjcc.k12.va.us or 757-253-6827).

Sponsored by Williamsburg-James City County Schools and Ascanius: The Youth Classics Institute

I asked, and was told that while he uses sentences and characters from CLC, all of the ideas are applicable to any text.

Just fyi....
