Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My dd has informed me she wants to learn Chinese and French. At the same time.

I have a little background in French, none in Chinese. Any recommendations for good elementary/middle school language programs? That don't cost an arm and a leg?

Alternatively... would Rosetta Stone be useful for a 5th grader? I could possibly invest in Chinese, and then maybe Memoria Press First Start French. I'm afraid that it would be best if she could do additional languages on her own, though... not sure I have a lot of time to sit down with her at this point, since it's hard enough just going over math.

We are enjoying The Easy Spanish right now (my oldest is a 5th grader). The creators of it have a French version http://www.theeasyfrench.com/. Maybe this would be interesting for her? It is set up to be used independently or with others. If this is interesting to you and you have any questions, I'll try to help answer them.

God bless,
Christine

I highly recommend Rosetta Stone. I know it's pricey but we love it and I am learning Italian! (My kids and Hubby are learning Spanish, but that is my first language, so I think I have it covered )

You can let them do it on their own with Rosetta Stone, too!

The Michel Thomas Method Speak Mandarin chinese for beginners course might work for you. We are using their beginner Italian (along with Kolbe's Italian course) and their Michel Thomas Method Speak French for beginners and we all love them! Read the reviews on Amazon and see what you think.

Good luck!

Marie

Mimi

Thanks for that, I find it very reassuring from one who knows the language.
