Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

History with multiple ages and stages, that is.

Last year, we used STAA and one of the very nice things was we all studied Greek History, and we all did Astronomy...and it was definitely easier for me, atleast.

However, my eldest daughter is chafing a bit about having her younger brother doing the same things as she does. We also are not using STAA this year, and I'm not totally sure about where I am going. Well, I am actually, but its around in circles .

I'd like to have all of us on the same page 6th, 4th, 2nd...and two tag alongs...but I'm not sure if I'm not shortchanging someone... I am constantly second-guessing myself, even at this stage of the game.

So, for those of you with different ages and stages...do you combine history, geography and science or not.

What are your reasons for your decision either way.

waffling,
Kathleen

I have all my children studying the same period of history but not all together.

My oldest (almost 11) likes to read and work independently so she has assigned readings and projects from different books and at a somewhat higher level then her sisters. I discuss her work with her at the beginning of the week and after she's finished a reading or project.

My middle children (8 and going on 6) do their history with me, (while the three and one year olds try to lap sit and scribble on scrap paper). Some of the material I've   younger girl's head and I would let her have a break at that point. Occasionally my oldest has helped them do a project with her but I've not required her to do so.

I do a bit of geography along with history but I also have some non-consumable mapbooks that the children work at at their own level.
