Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hey Gals!
Has anyone used the CHC church history study guide in their middle school lesson plans? If so did you use any living books to enrich the study? If you did which books did you use? I know it's only 20 weeks, but I thought I could strech it out to 30 using some living books. Please let me know what you thought of it.
God bless,
Cheryl

Well, since it looks like no one has used this study guide does anyone have any suggestions for books?
Thanks!
Cheryl

Cheryl:

I might have the plans if they are in the Middle School plans but quite honestly, we didn't use them much. I would think any short plans would be wonderful because it gives you stressless opportunity(time) to expand, do projects, read lots of great books, etc.

A good couple of places to start:

readingyourwaythroughhistory.com

and the book, Let the Author's Speak (sorry I don't know how to make the computer underline or italicize).

Another place for ideas - go to rchistory.com and look at the reading list for whatever ages and check out some of the books for your children's ages (just be sure to peruse for content appropriate for the age but if you are working with a middle schooler you could easily draw from younger reading as well.

Wherever you come up with holes in things to do or books to read, just post with a request for recommended books for (give time period). We are doing a rchistory Vol. II which may cover some of the same time periods.
