Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Homeschooling has really perked an interest in history for me. Over the last couple of days I've found myself pondering the history of Australia. I know there are some Australian's on the board and I wondered if you have any good resources for exploring Australia's history.

Honestly this is mostly my own rabbit trail, but maybe my curiosity will rub off on my kids. So both adult and children's resources would be great. Thanks!

Hi Richelle,
Well your email finally got me kicked started yesterday to move on my website. Spent the arfternoon tidying it up.

Last holidays I started an Australian website, included is a list of Australian history titles in chronological period. It isn't anything flash yet, but is enough to get you started.

I'm just having trouble with transferring the files. I'll hopefully have it done tonight (it's 11.30am here now)and I'll send you the link then.

Here is a link to our Australian history page at Mater Amabilis. As well as suggesting books for various age levels it includes links to other Australian book lists.

Erin,

I'm anxious to see your site!

Kathryn,

Wow! I've been to your site many times and have never noticed this. I suppose I've never been there looking for Australian history, huh? That list will keep us busy for a long time.

Just basic at this stage, but you should find plenty of titles to start with. I'll welcome any feed back, suggestions, etc.

Thanks for the inpsiration, if you hadn't asked I still would be sitting on it.

We only added it recently . An Anglican Australian CM-er generously gave us permission to share her work.

Erin, would it be OK to add a link to your site to our page?

Sure Kathryn no problem. I'll try to list the Catholic titles separately soon also.

Thanks for your support Mary. (You're an early riser)

Richelle,

I forgot to add Ruth Marshall's site http://wonder.riverwillow.com.au/home_education/book_talk/au stralian_books.htm

It is Ruth who contributed to Kathryn's work. Ruth's site is extensive. Very good.

Thank you all! The lists all look wonderful. I'm going to spend some time researching and finding some interesting one's to strew and read a loud.

Years ago I picked up a fiction book at the library that was set in Australia. The book ended up leaving me disappointed, but I was fascinated by the description of the land and lifestyle. I'm so looking forward to digging into this!

BTW the address for Ruth's site doesn't work as a cut and paste. There is a space between the u and the s in australian that needs to be deleted once you paste it for it to work.
