Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We are wanting to learn latin together as a family. We want to learn conversational latin but we are not sure which program would be the best for this use.
We are looking into Rosetta Stone and Powerglide. We already have Latina Christiana and Henle Latin but we are not sure that will work for to use as a family together. Our dd is 8 yo.
Thanks for opinions or suggestions on how to proceed.

Does pronunciation matter? I think both Rosetta Stone and Powerglide are available only with classical. If you want ecclesiastical (and don't need a CD), a good option might be to use either Cambridge Latin or Lingua Latina (Oerberg). You can read the stories aloud, and you can start to talk about the stories in Latin. The grammar and vocab are taught through the stories.

(Note - there are CDs available for both books, but they use classical.)

We use Latina Christiana as a family. Our kids are 16, 10, 8 and 5. We use Rosetta Stone for Spanish and French and personally I don't think it lends itself well to family use, though you could probably tailor how you use it to suit your needs. I'm considering Minimus for the 5-yo though, just so she can do more fun stuff apart from what we do together.

Well, I'm not sure this will be any help to you but last yr we did Prima Latina together (together is my daughter and me; hubby isnt' interested). We have the CD Teacher and I did my work on a seperate piece of paper. This year we'll be doing Latin for Children. I ordered the CD teacher and my own set of books. I'm homeschooling an only child and we're doing this b/c she wants classmates. I liked it last year eventhough it was so simple. I'm looking forward to LfC.

Also, we read aloud from Latin children's books and readers at least once/day. As far as conversational Latin goes, that's probably your best bet.

We learn togetehr as well. We attend mass in LAtin so it was a natural fit and we hear the correct pronuciation. We use Roseeta Stone and Prima Latina, Christiana LAtina, and Wheeloks for the parents
