I just watched the trailer for this and it looks great. As you may know, my husband is very interested in the history of Native Americans. My sons are heading in that direction, and I guess I am, too!
"This film explores the tragic impact that the United States' westward expansion had on American Indian culture, and the economic, political, and social pressures that motivated it. Premiering Sunday, May 27 at 9pm/8c on HBO."

We don't have HBO, so I guess we'll be waiting for it to come out on DVD (or if someone wanted to tape it for me, I would love that!)

I just saw the preview yesterday .Adam Beach is in it ! he went to school with dd and I think his family attends our parish . Is the leading actress from Winnipeg too ?
Whcih group is your dh most interested in ?
We have mostly objibway and cree some souixto ( I'm terrible at spelling  ) our family has either cree or objibway we think . possibly mohawk .
do you attend an aboriginal parish ?
I also am interested in learning more about the groups in oklahoma as we have family there .
I was thinking to start a metis or native american catholic hs group as I now know 4 families who hs 
Has your dh looked at the keepers series for education of young people . I'm thinking to use keepers of life for science next term for ds11 . All the keeper books are really great .

Hi Florisita,
We don't have any Native American blood in our family, but my husband from his childhood has studied all about Indians of every tribe. I was never much interested in it until I met him and now I find it very fascinating.
I've never heard of the Keeper books. I'll have to look into that.
Did anyone get to watch the movie?
I'd love to hear a review of it.

Jane, have you read the book? My mother had it in a college class and it was always on the bookshelves but I never have gotten around to reading it myself. She thoroughly enjoyed it, I remember.

This is interesting. I, too, have just gotten interested in native American history after ds14 and I studied some of it this year in American History. So much of it is tragic, but living here in the SE, I'm esp interested in The Trail of Tears, where the Cherokee (mostly) were removed and forced to march west. I have a book out from the library right now but haven't started it.
I also started knitting hats for Knit a cap which makes hats for children on reservations. I'll have to watch for that movie.
