Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi all,
I think this is the best place to post this...

Has anyone used the new book "A Child's Geography" by Ann Voskamp? It looks really beautiful and well done. Its CM style and with narration prompts. On the other hand she is not a Catholic and her Protestant evangelization emphasis could be a bit off. Its pretty expensive, so I hestiate...

Thanks for your help.

CK:

I have this. I bought it last September. We only did the first Chapter. I'm going to pull it out and refresh my memory and then I'll PM you.

Clarissa,

Where did you see this book mentioned -- I tried to do an Amazon search but came up blank and my library doesn't have it either.

She also has a website for it.
A Child's Geography

And this link takes you to another store for it:

You can get it as an e-book too.

Sorry, I don't know how to make a link!

Hi Paula
Could you share how you found this. Did you have Vol1 or 2? I am considering purchasing Vol 2 on the Holy Land to tie in with our Ancient History unit.

thanks in advance

wondering if anyone has done a childs geography with younger children. my son is 1st grade age, but probably 2nd grade reading level. he is getting interested in geography and maps and i thought this might be a good resource.
how difficult are the activities for younger students?

Hi ladies,

Elizabeth mentions these books on her Serendipity blog and LOVES them!!

I am protestant so I hesitate to mention my opinion (though I love them also) but thought I would mention that Elizabeth is using these for her Around the World studies thsi year! That is how I came to purchase them too...after deciding to do the Serendipity stuff with my kiddos.

Monica, I feel these books have been borderline too much for my children who are doing 3rd, 2nd grade work - 8yrs, 6yrs. I really would probably say 3rd and up for these books...but hopefully others will chime in too. :)

Oh, and on the ACG website you can read the entire first chapter of both books as a sample. This gives you a great idea of how the book reads, as the chapters are all in a similar format!

HTH!

Hi, neighbor!! We are over on the east end of TN.

Glad I could help! If you do end up trying A Child's Geography, one thing that I did was just break each chapter up into TINY chunks and read one little bit each day. That did help. Good luck!

Are there answers to the questions at the end of the chapters? I have been debating this for next year.
