Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My kids are all ready to create (out of thin air, I sometimes think) Viking swords, axes, shields, helmets, jewelry ... Are there any kits or ideas out there for building these things? I've looked online and only found sites where the items are $$$ for sale.    Any help?

Thanks!

PS: I found some nice sites for playing games and learning, thanks to Theresa's Post. Scroll down to the bottom to see them.

Tina, once you have a craft book or even a book with pictures depicting Viking life, I would provide the kids with corrugated cardboard and cereal boxes that they can cut up, duct tape, markers and maybe craft paint if you really want to get fancy. All "battle gear" can be made using those items. For jewelery, we use string (or yarn), sculpey, and thin jewelery making wire. I bake what the kids create and then they paint.

Thanks! I knew I could count on you ladies to pull me through. I also found a book I had in my own library called Step Into the Viking World. All those pictures on the front are crafts. I always tell my children to look before they ask. I suppose I need to listen to my own advice.

God bless, Tina
