I'm very intrigued about Touch Math. The concepts are presented logically and they use a multisensory approach. It seems the most logical and workable program I've seen in my whole homeschool liftetime. It's very cost-prohibitive for us. However, if that program will turn the light on in my dcs bogged down (by Saxon) minds, I'll pay the price. I have a 12 yo and 10 yo who are worn out. I think even they'll benefit from the upper grade Touch Math. My 9 yo might benefit from the early upper grade math. And the others will benefit from at or near grade level (wish they offered *upper* upper grade levels (in other words, beyond 3rd or 4th grade).

I have several questions for the Touch Math users on this list. Did you buy whole kits? Just workbooks? Did you need the teacher training materials? Are you seeing results? Do the kids like this math? Where should I start the olders? I don't want to insult their intelligence, but I *do* want them to understand the program before they enter into work that's more at their level. Is it beneficial to start littlies at this program from the start? It appears easy to implement, am I right?

I apologize for all the questions. I want to be absolutley certain before I make ANOTHER leap to a different math program.

answers but no time . I use only the workbooks. You can get the teacher training DVD for free for thirty days to learn the system. My kids love, love , love this system for learning addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. You can't just purchase the workbooks for fractions yet. You need the sequencing workbooks to teach mult. facts. I really like this program and we are so NOT math people. Very easy to implement.

The lady at Touchmath told me that the workbooks are only about 32 pages each and that if I buy the kits, I'll be able to reproduce about 150 of different exercises (depending on the kit, I think I'm just averaging the amount) for each child. Since I'm using this for my children from my eldest (12) on down to my littlest (not yet born), might it not behoove me to buy the kits? I'd have to buy three upper level math sets of books (and as you said, there is no fractions workbook ~ that's one of their mental blocks) to supplement my older kids' math books. Then I'd want a first grade set of books and a K set of books. That's a ton of money for just one year. I know the kits are expensive, but I think in the long run, it'll save me money, no?

Oh, I am so confused! I am not a happy number cruncher ... gee, wonder where my kids get it from.

There is no doubt that it's a much more co mplete program with the kits. If you can afford it, I'd absolutely do it. I can't let Touchmath stand on its won--it's not complete enough.
