Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

In the past month I have completely changed my thinking on what I want to do for math next year. This post was the start of my worries. We used RighStart this year. Mostly to work on mental math and reinforce basic math facts. This was a success (wish I had used it from the start). I put both my boys back in lower levels to work on this. Now it is time to move forward. I don't want to continue, but skip ahead. Understand? Anyway, for my oldest we are filling in gaps (due to using several different math programs over the years). We started this in past couple of week and will continue this for next year. We are using Key to and Math Mammoth and Life of Fred. He is checked off my list!

My youngest is my struggle at the moment. We did about 60% of RightStart level c this year. It did what I needed it to do and his mental math and recall of basic math facts are much better. We put the RS book aside and are working on memorizing multiplication facts. Now what to do for next year? I have RightStart and Math Mammoth on hand. This are the most logical because they are here and already paid for. I hate math mammoth. For a right brain person it is just painful! (I use it a little with my oldest and that is my limit.) With RightStart I would need to go through D and find a starting place for him. Really D is where I should have started him this past year, but I didn't want both boys in the same level seeing that they are three school years apart. He may be able to start in E, but I haven't taken the time to go through. I really don't want to do all that work. I'm also looing at Math Lessons for a Living Education and I think I could start him in book 4. He hasn't done any division yet, but I can always teach that more in depth if book 4 doesn't (it says it reviews it). Of course, this is buying another math program. I keep going back and forth on this! I've only ruled out using Math Mammoth. Oh, we also have Life of Fred and will be reading through those too.

Any one have any words of wisdom?

I don't have time to reply fully, but I did want to say that Level C is a BIG year. There is a lot of ground covered in that year. I know that there have been other threads on this in the past. I am starting Level C next year for the third and while excited to get into the material I am dreading it a bit. I went WAY to fast through this year the first time.   Anyway, I just wanted to say that you and your ds are champs in my book for finishing a solid portion of the year in one year.

Betsy, it was a lot of review for him so we skipped a lot of it. He truly would have been fine starting at level D, but since I started my other ds there so I held him back.
