My daughter has completed the final level of RightStart Math and I need to choose another Math program for her. I am so sad that RS does not go into the higher grades. It is such a wonderful program and explains math so well. I learned alot too.
What program do you use after RS? I would like to find a program that is similar in teaching style to RS. RS recommends on their website the Video Text Integrative Math. Has anyone used it? What do you think?
I am going to a Homeschool Convention this weekend to look at all the Math programs there, but any information you have on a specific one would be greatly appreciated.

my son just started VT and likes it. It seems broken down into very easy to digest pieces. He is only on his 3rd lesson so I can't say much, but so far so good.

Have you finished RS Geometry? I would DEFINITELY start there if you haven't done that yet.
The Geometry is recommended to be broken up over two years so it would be nice to so something additional with that.
Otherwise, if your daughter is ready for Algebra I would use Video Text'sthat RS recommends. I heard from a local mother that had talked to Dr. Cotter that she felt their was no need for her to creat an Algebra program because Video Text is exactly what she would have done.
I hope that helps...

I am bumping this thread up...
My ds will be finishing up RS level E soon, and I am wondering where to go next. We have used RS from Day 1 with him, and it has been a very good fit.
However, I'm looking through what's left of Level E, and I don't see much about fractions. He knows how to add fractions and reduce them to their lowest terms, but we haven't done much work with multiplying, finding the common denominator, etc. I haven't felt that Level E has been very fraction heavy...
So now I am wondering if I should go on to RS geometry with him. It is the next level... is there much fraction work in there, or will I have to come up with supplemental fraction work on my own?
We have just gotten through all the multivides in Level E, and he is still alive, despite his assertions that they were killing him .
We do Life of Fred on the side, and I do have the fractions book, so maybe I could do the RS geometry with LOF on the side?
My next thought was maybe we should switch to Singapore after RS. I don't know that Saxon would be a good match for him.
I remember learning all about fractions in grade 5, and they have been something I have used countless times along with algebra in day to day life.... guess I am a bit hung up on them

I was concerned about the fraction issue too. There are fractions used in Level G but it won't be as obvious as you would like it to be. However, once you get to Video text, they are non stop At the beginning VT assumes you know nothing about them. So that was a relief. If it makes you feel better you can suppliment Level G, or just wait until VT.

We in RS E right now and are set to finish in a few months. We too have used it the whole way through. My plan right now (based on advice from other forums) is to do Singapore 5A/B concurrently with RS Geometry. That seems to be a popular route, and from what I've seen of each program, I think it will work well for us. (I'm not a fan of video approaches to education, or I would perhaps be considering VideoText.)

I have Math Mammoth and have tried to use that to supplement the fraction work, but my ds really dislikes it.
So I am liking the idea of alternating RS with Singapore.
Would it be best to do a week of RS and then a week of Singapore or 2 days a week of each? We generally play math games on Friday. In addition, we read one chapter a day of Fred as a read aloud- then we all work on the problems together.

Most of the families that have shared their schedules do a couple days of each per week. But I hope someone who has actually tried it will speak up.
