Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Can anyone recommend some inexpensive staples that could serve as the basic spine from elementary through middle school? I was taught with Saxon and did not have a good grasp of mathematics when I went to college, even though I had always been an honor student, so I'd like to avoid Saxon. I'd like to stock up on some basic materials in case the economy really does crash for awhile. I need them to be very inexpensive. I could come up with supplemental materials on my own, but I'd need some texts of some sort to guide me. I've heard that MCP is good as a spine. Our Montessori materials will take us through multiplication, so we'd only need to start at about maybe the 3rd grade.

I started this thread a few years ago asking a similar question.

Math Mammoth is self-directed and very user friendly. It's available in a .pdf format so that you can print off as many copies as needed and use it for multiple kids. My family has been using this plus living math books for almost a year now and absolutely loving it.

It costs $136 for the downloaded 'Light Blue Series', which works sequentially through grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. So 6 grades worth of math for $136.
