Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I would like to know the pros and the cons of this math program if you are or have used it.
We are likely switching from Singapore Math.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Claudia,
I have to say, first, that I think Saxon is a sound program. We use Saxon from 4th grade up and I think my kids have an excellent grasp of math concepts even though math is definitely not my thing.
That being said, I really didn't care for Saxon in K-3rd grades. Maybe it's because my kids aren't overly interested in math manipulatives. I have a ton of Montessori Math stuff that we use in the early years, but that is not the same. My kids have always done better with a program like Abeka or Horizon and I pull out the manipulatives only if they are struggling with a certain concept.
Also, Saxon in K-3 is very mom-intensive which also made it difficult for me.
That could just be me though. I've heard from other moms that they love the early years in Saxon Math. I hope you get a few more replies to round out your information.

Thank you Becky, you gave a me a lot of food for thought.
I have done some research and as you have mentioned it is mom-intensive.
I am just not up for that this year. Given all the therapy my son needs.

My daughter is very independent, smart, and a quick learner. I will wait out with Saxon for next year.
Now I have to find something that will fit her with out short changing her. I was hoping Saxon was the answer.
