I used New Elementary Math through 3B for two of my daughters. We liked it very much. With a little additional work in logarithms, we then went straight to precalculus. However, I never used the lower grades of SM so I can't help you with any transitional issues.

Laura:
I know a mom who has gone from Singapore 6 B to the New Elementary Math. It is a fine program. My biggest fear with Singapore is, honestly, moving too fast and not letting concepts gell a bit. I have some kiddos who love Singapore - but tend to try to race. I have been likewise contemplating what to do after Singapore 6B with a child who will probably be completing 6B somewhere this year.
I have thought of testing in Saxon (I'm sure he will test quite high and please no tomatoes - Saxon is not our favorite program at all). I really think I'd like a year of reinforcing the concepts learned (or maybe only 1/2 a year) and I already own Saxon - and it is plenty of review . I'd not place him in Saxon Algebra or anything - mabye a quickee review before jumping into our regular Algebra I program. I just don't know. This particular child is very good with math concepts, but rushes and doesn't always pay attention to little details. If he really doesn't need review, then we'll go on to Algebra, I guess, but since he is young, I'm in no hurry to do it.
I guess a lot depends on the child and what you think they need.

We go to Mathematics.com I spent hundreds of dollars but now it is FREE. Online and he teaches the children, they love it. My maths phobic son now likes maths.

I'm still missing the FREE of Mathematics.com. What I've seen is great, and I'd like to learn more. Thanks!
God bless,
Christine

On that page are you not seeing a big sign in yellow saying FREE? to all Australian high school students?
Just underneath it says sign up FREE now.
Otherwise you can buy the disc for a fraction of the price originally!
Let me know if not, perhaps American are blocked or something, if so I will ring Patrick in the morning and ask.

Erin,
Thanks for the information, but sadly there is no FREE on the site here.
Maybe you can get more specific information in Australia. But I imagine they need to make some money off this venture somehow.

I contacted them, apparently it is only free for Australians. the story is that McDonalds franchise used the program with their employees, and saw such an improvement that they are sponsoring Mathematics.com.au.
So for non-Australians the program is $495 for the two years (Grades 7-8, 9-10, or 11-12)however homeschoolers receive a 40% discount! or if you can't afford that up-front you have the pay by month option.
Other great news is they are bringing out a primary school edition in two weeks!! Grades 4-6 I have some boys dancing around.
