Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My almost 7 year old has already breezed through Singapore Math 1st and 2nd grade. I decided to try Right Start Math with her and her 8 yr old sister who isn't as math minded. After a couple of lessons, she asked me when she gets another math book! This is a kid who crunches numbers constantly.

What program would be best for this type of kid? Sonlight recommends Miquon, Singapore and Horizons.

I like Primary Challenge Math by Ed Zorraco- it is all word problems, organized by topic and increasing in difficulty (4 levels each with 5 problems). You can either go through all of the levels or simply use the levels with the right challenge.

Supplementing with living math books, real life math, math games and some geometry works here. My math minded 6 and 7 year old DS do NOT like doing pages and pages of problems, however. So I try and work with their math strengths rather than using a program that makes them dislike math (which is what started happening here).

I also like Miquon but there is a lot of repetition (that goes unused here) and it only goes up to grade 3 math. We use that once and awhile but it always seems to be review.

I have some Life of Fred that I have not used yet.

Molly,
Don't forget MacBeth's math page for living books...That has helped me with some of my math-happy kids!

Oh, we also love Hands on Equations. It is pre-algebra. Done with manipulatives.
