Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Any recommendations for fun math (board or card) games that include carrying and/or borrowing? Or games for multiplication facts? Or, (and I might really be optimistic here) games that include finding common denominators with fractions?

Thanks in advance,
Tracey

We play war to help with math facts. Deal the deck of all the cards between the players. Each player puts down 2 cards and then adds or multiplies the 2 cards they put down. Highest (or lowest) number wins all cards played. Player with the most cards at the end wins, and gets to deal the next hand.

I'm tutoring a young girl this summer and she loves playing this to practice her multiplication. I usually have her look at our cards, estimate which hand will win, and then do the math for both of us. It's a little more fun for her than flashcards.

I've played with my boys using 2 or 3 cards for addition and also subtraction.

I just declare Aces to be one, Jacks to be 11 and Kings and Queens are 12.

No ideas for other games, but I'm curious to see what's posted!
