Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Anyone go from K to 1st with RS? It looks like they are very similar? Did you find yourself skipping or combining lessons?

I think it depends on the child and their age - I have both the A and B books and know that my oldest would have benefited from doing it all in K and then doing it again in 1st (we didn't have RS at that age with her) but my next two kids are very much "get it the first time and move on" kids. That being said if you want to get just the B book, it might move a little too fast depending on the child/age. You could always go slow and play more of the games.

But yes - they are very similar! Much of A is covered again in B but faster.

My daughter is very bright, but get's frustrated and difficult to work with when she doesn't get something right away. My husband thinks it's a good idea to not skip, because with math, review is important. He is gifted in math...I'm not. I may get bored with the review, but maybe it will help her to "fuel" for when it gets difficult? I guess I'll have to wait and see. If she shows bordom, maybe I can combine the lessons. Just makes preparing a little tricky!

I just sold my A book. My first two 1st grade pupils blasted through the B books too fast because it was all "review". With my current Kindergartener we are doing games, fun math books, kitchen math and Serendipity's Math gnomes....

God bless,
Kathleen

We really don't do any formal academics until first grade (age 7) - we skipped the kindergarten book altogether.

I don't think the work is difficult but I don't find I can get through a book in a year - we just don't do the math *book* everyday - so I have been overlapping a bit - we're in the second grade book but we're also still working in the first grade book. I think we'll get through it all eventually! I not even sure we *need* to do everything - but I have caved into my fears that we might "miss" something.

We all love the math games (ages 5, 8, 11, and 13)!! And even though we "don't do academics" with littles my 5 year-old clearly knows all his numbers, writes, adds, subtracts, knows basic shapes, etc... without being "taught".

There are things I don't like about this series but overall it has been a good fit for my son (8) who loves the hands on work, less written work, and the mental math (especially through the games).

My oldest did Level A and we moved onto to Level B. She was 5yo in level A and now she's 6yo. For my dd, we did all the beginning lessons in Level B, whereas others skipped ahead. It was good for her and i'm glad we did it.
