Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

How often do you have your young children narrate? Do they just do it orally, or do you print it out for them? My girls (newly 6 and 7) have developed an aversion to narration. I usually ask each to narrate twice a day, from our am Bible story and then again in the afternoon-from a chapter in our chapter book or from another reading. My plan for the Bible stories was to type and print out their narrations and they could illustrate them and have a nice book at the end of the year.
But..
this is what I hear when I start to read "Are you going to make me NARRATE this?? Can't I just listen?"

Should I stop requesting narration for a few months and then ease back into it? Should I press on?
Thanks
Jennifer

I had the same problem with my dd(8). My ds (6) never seems to mind. In fact, he'd rather narrate than draw . However, I do think a couple of times a week is what works for us. I know mine would balk if I insisted on 2x a day.

We read Tomie DePaola's Mary Mother of Jesus in May. At that time, ds would narrate each reading and dd would illustrate it. Like I said, we started doing it in May and we finished for Mary's birthday last week! They do really love having a complete book now that they made.

Our first year of hs, we used the Childrens' Catholic Picture Bible and would read one story a day and I'd have them narrate or draw. Sadly, we never finished it, but I plan to pick it back up this year. I tend to get caught up in the finished product rather than the process and thus burn them out and myself. I'm trying to focus on the journey this year and not the destination.

Thank you. We've cut back on narrations and when I do request it, it is going much better.
