Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My son (age 11) does not like narration much. Today it is the 24th and it is the feast of St Christina the Astonishing, I read the remarkable story to the children and below is what Jack wrote.

I feel that there are improvements in his style to be made considering his age but it was a good effort and more importantly, he applied himself. We hope to be more consistant in the future with this sort of work and I am sure he will continue to improve.

ST CHRISTINA THE ASTONISHING
How She Came Back To Life

She is an astonishing saint from long ago who suffered for the souls in purgatory.

St Christina was a girl from the village of Saint-Trond, she was orphaned at the age of fifteen. She lived the life of a shepherd girl and prayed most of the time. When she prayed she didn't even eat, because she did not eat she soon died.

On the day of her funeral she lay in her coffin at Mass. After the agnus dei, she shot out of her coffin and perched on the rafters. The priest that was saying the Mass, kept on saying the Mass like nothing happened. After the Mass he ordered her to come down.

When she came down, she told the priest she had been to hell and saw many friends. She had also beeen to purgatory and seen many people she knew. Then she went to heaven and God asked her if she wanted to stay in heaven or go back to earth and act like a damned soul.

She chose what most people wouldn't choose. She chose to go back to earth and suffer for the people in purgatory. Just as she said that, God sent her back to earth and she woke up in the coffin.

Anne,

I think Jack has done extremely well, I particularly like the part where ' she shot out of her coffin.' so descriptive. Did he write this himself, or was it a dictation?

It wasn't dictation - I had read him a story about St Christine an hour previously and this is his writing of her life up until she came back to life from what he had heard about this most interesting story.

Yes, very much like a boy, "she shot out of her coffin" I think he was probably thinking more of cannons than coffins, as we had toured the Duyfken the day before and seen quite a few of them.

Dear Anne,

Tell Jack, Thomas thought that was great. The next question was " Mum can you do that with us".
I might have to brush up on some CM techniques. That's right I don't know any - maybe I'll have to learn.
Think I need to spend more time on this forum.

God Bless to all
