Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Go figure.....my 18 year old daughter would not write for me (or anyone I hired) in high school. Or at least not too cheerfully. She found writing to be her toughest subject. She liked math and science. But English...I couldn't get her interested. She did very well on the ACT English portion, so I wasn't sure what the deal was. Well, last semester, she started journaling on her own. And I mean she writes copiously now. She stays up and night and drives her 15 year old sister nuts with her writing, writing, writing. Go figure.
So mothers of non-writers...don't despair! Sometimes these kids need their own reason to write.

Blessings,
Stephanie

What Stephanie said.

Dancing Daughter resisted every effort I made to get her to write. And, suddenly, about a year ago, through a couple of her friends, she discovered fan fiction (where you create a plot and characters in the universe another writer has created, such as Tolkien's Middle Earth).

And now she is writing writing writing...in cursive, to make it even better! She and her friend created a collaborative writing project, telling the same tale from their two characters' different points of view and combining the stories...and she is even starting to like poetry!
