If you use Explode the Code, do you find the teacher's book necessary?
I'm thinking of using this with my 8 year old, and I'm not sure if I need the Teacher's Guide or not.
Also, do you supplement with Spelling, and if so, what program do you use?

There are a handful of exercises that apparently need the teacher's book, but we just skip those and don't really miss it.

I do not supplement with spelling. I think that this covers much of what a spelling program would. I plan to do dictation starting around 3rd grade.
