Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

OK - I admit I like readers and lesson plans that go with them! I do have ds always be reading a book outside the readers. But that said - last year we loved Seton's readers (didn't do the plans) ds was in 2nd and we went through the 3rd grade books just fine, dd (now 8th) went through 2-7th grade with seton's readers and plans; so I know about them. This year the readers are still right up his alley. But don't know about the plans since he is in 3rd and the plans are for 4rth. I have kolbes elementary lit student book/teacher book/ glossary here but not the plans. Now I am wondering: 1. I may keep with Seton and tweak the plans for his level (I think too much writing for my 3rd grader will drive him nuts) 2. just read the readers and do are entirely own thing . 3 I am wonder about Kolbe - is it a lot of writing, is it above a 3rd grade level and are the $150 lesson plans worth it.

Also, is seton the only place to find plans for the Faith and Freedon readers they have?

Hi Barb,

It sounds like what you are doing is working; just stick with it. I have the Kolbe plans for jr. high, and they are very detailed--chapter summaries, characterization, etc. listed for each day's suggested daily reading for each book. There are suggested writing assignments as well, and a test with answer key for each book.

From the Kolbe website you can download a PDF file of a sample of the lesson plans for elementary. That will give you an idea if it is really something that would be helpful to you or not.

The only thing I know about lesson plans for Faith and Freedom readers is that you can get them from Seton only with enrollment (either full enrollment or enrollment of only that particular subject).

Good luck!

:) Mary
